ETHOS - University of Dayton

ETHOS - University of Dayton ETHOS( Engineers in Technical Humanitarian Opportunities of Service Learning) we are students from UD In addition, there are over 270 program alumni!

ETHOS stands for Technical Humanitarian Opportunities of Service Learning. ETHOS was founded in 2001 by some University of Dayton engineering students who traveled out into the world and realized that they could apply their engineering skills beyond the classroom. Since it's inception, the ETHOS program has sent University of Dayton students to 20 different countries on 4 different continents. In

general, ETHOS is a 10+ week full cultural immersion. This means the students will be "immersed" in the culture, living with a host family and learning what the real issues are from the locals. The program is all about teaching our students about appropriate technology and learning the global linkage between cultures, economies, people, and values. ETHOS is rooted in developing partnerships with an in-country host, which is now at 38 and growing! The program has expanded and the types of projects are widening such that ETHOS now sends non-engineering students along on the immersion to aid projects with other necessary skills.
