UM-Dearborn senior Courtney Hadrian spent her summer helping Biological Sciences Assistant Professor Jie Fan conduct research that may hold the key to slowing or stopping the progression of cancer.

Hadrian, who plans to attend graduate school to become a physician assistant, says she was looking for research opportunities on campus, but didn’t expect to be conducting research at this level so early in her academic career. “I never thought I’d be doing research like this as an undergrad. It’s been such an amazing experience,” she says.

Another successful UMDearborn graduate! So proud!

INSPIRATIONAL ❤️🙏: Congratulations to Dr. Ali Assi for matching into Stanford University for medical residency. Dr. Assi is graduating from the University of Michigan Medical School and the Stephen M. Ross School of Business with a MD/MBA. Ali Comes from humble beginnings; from a single mother-household in the Dearborn area. He worked several jobs throughout school to help his mother pay bills and buy groceries. Despite the financial stress, he kept his head down, worked hard, and hope to bring the skills he has learned back to our community in order to make an impact. We share this story to highlight that circumstances do not have to define your potential.

We are incredibly proud of you Ali, keep making your community shine!
