We have all heard the same concerns about liberal arts degrees: “You aren’t going to get a job with that degree,” or “What’s the point of studying that?”

But what if those assumptions are missing the bigger picture?

At UM-Dearborn’s College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters (CASL), a liberal arts and sciences education builds exactly what employers are looking for: strong communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, adaptability, and the ability to connect ideas across disciplines. These skills show up in every field, from business and tech to education, public service, healthcare, and beyond.

A liberal arts education isn’t about narrowing your path; it’s about expanding it. It prepares students to explore, evolve, and step into careers they may not have even imagined yet.

👉 If you studied in CASL, how did your experience shape your path today?

Each spring and fall, migrating birds traveling across southeast Michigan are drawn to the UM-Dearborn campus, a rare urban oasis surrounded by development. Recognizing the important role the campus plays in supporting local wildlife, students, faculty, and staff have come together to reduce bird collisions and create a safer habitat for migrating species.

The initiative has also become a powerful way to engage students in hands-on environmental stewardship. Volunteer walks and training sessions led by the Student Sustainability Coalition and Planet Blue Ambassadors teach participants how to identify, document, and safely respond to bird collisions while contributing to meaningful conservation efforts.

What if your support could go twice as far?

Great news! Ann Arbor has renewed the monthly recurring gift match for another year.

That means every new monthly recurring gift to UM-Dearborn will be matched dollar-for-dollar for 12 months, up to $100 per month.

Whether you choose to support scholarships, student programs, or the area you care about most, your gift will have double the impact.

A small monthly gift can make a big difference for our students, and today, it can make twice the Dearborn Difference.

Start today! Go Blue, Go Dearborn!
