Music Industry Studies at Millikin University This degree provides opportunities for introduction to the music and recording industry, publishing and copyright laws, and recording arts electives.

The Bachelor of Music in Music Business prepares you for a variety of career opportunities in the music industry by mixing a solid core of music and business classes along with critical coursework that blend the two fields. In addition, students receive professional experiences through internships and coursework with First Step Records, Millikin’s student-run record label and publishing company,

and the Blue Connection Art Gallery. The Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Commercial Music will prepare you for a career in the creative side of the music industry. A key component of the program is the Millikin Studio, a state-of-the-art recording studio and video-editing suite. Each student completes a senior project of their choice in consultation with the advisor. Previous projects include: recital, video project, composition recital, production of a compact disk either as engineer, producer or performer. In addition, B.M. students will receive professional experiences through internships and coursework with First Step Records, Millikin’s student-run record label and publishing company, and the Blue Connection Art Gallery.

I’m looking for one or two studio interns for the at The Museum of Post Punk and Industrial Music

Duties will entail:
- Attention to Detail
- Organizational Skills
- Time Management Skills
- Everything from cassette archival to drum recording sessions (with our engineer) to albinis 1/4” and 1/2” machines + more

Not for the feint-of-heart: this is a high intensity and energy work environment.

Thursday this week!! I am telling a couple of stories at Tangible Books then trying my hand at bingo at Ramova Theatre then I might have an AF beer at across the street ! I haven’t spoken in chicago for quite a while - and to get to hang with and listen to Wendy Day is something I’ve been looking fwds to for a while. Wendy is like a litmus test, blue blanket, 4 alarm straight talking ikon who has been out on our Pigface Millikin University tour bus and has always been a sounding board, calming influence and igniter at the same time. Cant wait ! It’s at the gorgeous Ramova Theatre on May 11th. - hmu if you need a code for a discounted ticket. Decatur on May 4th is free - lots of bands panels and booths - May 11 is in chicago with Wendy and an amazing array of speakers and panels.
