Millikin voice students enjoyed significant success at the Central Region National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Student Auditions at Illinois State University this past weekend.
Of the 18 participating students (inclusive of 20 classical, musical theatre, and commercial music categories):
-14 students advanced to the semifinal round, including 2 students who advanced in their respective classical AND musical theatre categories
-11 students advanced to the final round
-5 students won first place, including 1 student who won first place in their respective classical & musical theatre categories
-2 students won second place
-2 students won third place
-2 students received honorable mention
The above list includes students from the studios of all four Millikin voice instructors with participating students (Troy Castle, Aubrey Hawkinson, Kevin Jones, & Emily Venturella). More details can be found in the attached document.
These successes represent an enormous amount of work by these students, their instructors, and staff pianist Lyn Sly, who collaborated with the majority of these students.
