To the Brothers of the 13th District of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated,

As we observe Memorial Day, we pause as a District and Brotherhood to honor the courageous men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Today, we especially recognize the countless service members who have lost their lives in recent military conflicts and operations across the world, as well as those who fell in earlier wars and battles throughout our nation’s history. From World War I and World War II to Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, Iraq, Afghanistan, and numerous peacekeeping and humanitarian missions, generations of brave Americans answered the call to serve with honor and valor. We also acknowledge the enduring contributions and sacrifices of African American service members who fought courageously for a nation that did not always fully recognize their humanity or equality. Their dedication, resilience, and patriotism helped shape the very freedoms we cherish today. As we honor the fallen, we also lift up the Gold Star families whose lives have forever been touched by sacrifice and loss.

As Brothers of the 13th District, many of whom have proudly worn the uniform of military service themselves, we understand the values of commitment, sacrifice, leadership, and brotherhood. On this Memorial Day, let us recommit ourselves to living lives worthy of the sacrifices made by our fallen heroes. May we continue to uplift our communities, support our veterans and active-duty military personnel, and preserve the legacy of those who gave all for the cause of freedom. May their memory forever inspire us toward greater service, unity, and purpose.
