4-H STEAM Day Camp 2026! Youth learned how to code with Scratch Jr and different skills related to taking steps to solve problems. The Newton County Extension Chair Yoga class was a huge success. Weekly the class learned how to stay fit while sitting in a chair. Each meeting was completed by a nutritious snack and a healthy tip from Katrina McCalphia. The last meeting was celebrated with a fresh Blueberry Cream Cheese Pound Cake provided by Linda Thomas.

In honor of June being Dairy month - the Extension Service was asked to come to Newton High School Summer program and we made our own butter!! 🧈 We enjoyed lemon blueberry bread and fresh made butter. ❤️🐄

It’s food preservation time of the year!

Participants learned the basics of water bath canning and pressure canning while learning about preserving fresh in season produce to enjoy throughout the year. Workshops like this are a great way to build life skills, carry on family traditions, and control what additives your family eats.

Our mission is to extend knowledge of research based information to the citizens of Newton County.
