Commencement weekend will begin with a cherished Luther tradition!

Join us Saturday, May 23 at 8 p.m. for Baccalaureate, an evening of music, blessings, and reflection as we prepare to celebrate the Class of 2026. This year’s speaker is Adrianna Tam, assistant professor of music, nominated by members of the senior class in recognition of faculty and staff who have most deeply influenced their Luther experience. The service includes special music from senior musicians.

During the music, a freewill offering is received in honor of the senior class to benefit Lutheran Disaster Response, a global partner providing relief and long term support in areas of the world facing conflict and natural disaster. After the service, the night will conclude with the ringing of the bell.🎓🔔

Can't make it? Check out the Baccalaureate livestream at luther.edu/commencement.

2026 Senior Spotlight #6: Antonia Laker

Antonia is a global health major from Kampala, Uganda. On campus, she has been a resident assistant, BSU activities coordinator, president of Beta Theta Omega, and Student Senate representative for race and ethnicity. Antonia also participated in the Lutheran College Washington Semester in Washington, D.C., interning with Atlas Network in the events department. After graduation, she plans to continue working in public health and healthcare spaces focused on health equity, refugee health, and women’s health while exploring a future career in nursing and global health advocacy. This summer, she will intern as a program specialist at Camp Courageous before transitioning to graduate school.

“I’ll carry the relationships, resilience, and sense of community I built here. Luther taught me how to step into leadership, advocate for others, and build meaningful connections with people from different backgrounds. Those experiences shaped me just as much as anything I learned in the classroom.”

Antonia chose Luther because of its strong sense of community and the opportunity to grow both academically and personally as an international student. Her passion for global health is rooted in her experiences helping care for her younger brothers and in her long-standing goal of being a “big sister” to others. That sense of responsibility has influenced the way she approaches her work in healthcare and advocacy. At Luther, she has continued building on that calling through her role as a first-year resident assistant and through off-campus roles and internships providing direct care to individuals with complex health needs and to communities in need.
