The Hispanic Organization of Latines Unides at Luther College that work to promote the Latino Culture on campus.

We organize events and activities on and off campus that share Hispanic/Latinx Culture and support our local Hispanic/Latinx communities through volunteering and advocacy.

Hello, we hope all of you are having a great time as you are back on campus and classes. We want to share that Latines Unides Executive Board positions for 2022-2023 are open! We would like to encourage self-identifying Hispanic and Latinx students to run for the positions. If you want to advocate, share, learn and support our community, we highly encourage you to run for any open position. The open positions include:

Secretary
Treasurer
Administrative Outreach Chair
Social Media Chair

In our next meeting we will be addressing the protests of 2018 in Nicaragua that lasted more than 100 years.
Join us in a presentation to learn more about the protest, its implications and part of the aftermath.

Brief context:
Four years ago on April 16 Nicaragua passed a reform for the social security (INSS) that heavily impacted workers and retired workers. Retired workers decided to protested against it but were met with repression and violence by government supporters. Two days later after the form was passed the country broke out in protests.

We are back for spring semester and more than excited to see you during our meetings. This week we will be playing trivia related to the latino/hispanic culture, come ready to have some fun!
We will meet in the Mott room at 7 pm this wednesday, as usual.

This letter is meant to discuss and clarify common questions and concerns regarding the vandalized incident that was committed in the Hostile Terrain 94 exhibition. We hope that through this letter we can clarify and alleviate some concerns and questions.

On wednesday 13th a student found a hateful message in the Hostile Terrain 94 exhibition. The exhibition commemorates those who have passed away while crossing the U.S-Mexico border trying to come for a better life in the U.S.
The message found by the student read as the following “I believe if you come to our country. Do it legally, obey our laws. Citizens of country have to so should illegals. There is a process follow it.”
We invite all students who speak up about this matter and to join us in a protest this Wednesday 27th starting & 1:30pm, we will be located in the second floor of union.
