Hello again!

For the Proud Huskies program of Week 2/28, we would like to recognize the following student staff members for their contributions to their peers, staff, and the community:

Elliot Norvill: Jahleel Shepherd says about Elliot, "Elliott has been a magnificent asset to me as my Co-CA and the housing team. Elliott takes pride in his position as a CA and is always always always willing to help the best way he can. Furthermore, he has this casual characteristic in which anyone can vibe with and feed from that energy. He could make anyone feel cool. Fun fact: He was the one who created the template for the letters--which is incredible! I think Elliott really deserves recognition because of his care for others, his leadership, and his attitude."

Jahleel Shepherd: As a Neptune CA and Front Desk Worker, Jahleel has been always there to provide support for his peers. Brandon Antonio says in his submission, "Jahleel has also been heavily involved with the NRHH Planning and Engagement Team, being hands-on with planning the Proud Huskies recognition program and willing to do other NRHH program initiatives. Despite not being an official member as of currently, Jahleel has shown the NRHH core values of recognition and service, being more than deserving for this recognition. I personally cannot thank him enough for all he has done for his community and the hard work he is putting in toward NRHH."

Thank you Jahleel and Elliot for your time and effort and representing your community as a Proud Huskie! If you want to write about a student staff member for this week, fill out a form below!

Hello everyone!

For the Proud Huskies Program of Week 2/28, we would like to congratulate the following professional staff members for all they have done for students and Housing:

Rebecca Borowiak: Edelgard Boyle says about Becky, "Rebecca has been amazing with handling issues when it comes to the LGBT floor. She has not only addressed various issues of the residents, but has helped settle multiple conflicts. She also has created a safe space for us residents on the floor to come to when something isn’t right on the floor."

Emily Line: Emily has done so much as the Graduate Staff Assistant for Housing and Residential Services and is the advisor for NRHH and RHA. Brandon Antonio says about Emily, " From just talking about random things like cheese to future plans, she has made my time here at NIU so much better. I would like to personally thank her for all that she has done for me, many others, and the housing organizations she is a part of. She is more than deserving to be recognized for her hard work and it has been truly a blessing to know Emily personally."

Jayla Hill: Jayla has done so much for the New Hall Community as the Graduate Hall Director. Jahleel Shepherd states, " I meet with Jayla every so often and she brings her personality, honesty, humor and professionalism to the atmosphere. When she walks into the room, she can easily make anyone smile. Plus, she has great relationship with her staff and is always willing to go above and beyond no matter the vicissitudes that occur in the residence hall."

Hello Huskies!

NRHH would like to recognize student staff members for all of their hard work for Proud Huskies. The following student staff have shown great initiative and leadership in their roles:

Dajaz White: As a incoming student staff member for Northern View, Dajaz has done a great job responding to a fire that happened. She remained calm in the whole situation and helped evacuate the building and helping residents. Danielle Tucker says, "She went above and beyond as a CA to help her residents and acted as a friend in helping and comforting them."

Allison Lively: Despite having twice the amount of residents and responsibilities without another CA in Stevenson, Allison has gone above and beyond her role, creating door decs and bulletin boards for both floors and utilizing Microsoft Teams to arrange in-person interactions and check ins. Lindsey Komes also states about Allison, "Alli was happy to step up in order to help support the team and her supervisors."

Brandon Antonio: As a Neptune CA, Brandon has been in multiple roles such as NRHH and GLACURH RBD (Regional Board of Directors). Ashlyn Straka says about Brandon, "He does all of this while being a full-time student, and how he manages to do well in every area is extremely impressive and admirable to me. He makes everyone proud and deserves to be recognized."

Thank you all for your involvement and the impact you have in your community as a Proud Huskie! If you have any student staff member you would like to recognize such as a Community Advisor or Desk Assistant, please submit a Proud Huskie form that is located here!

Hello fellow Huskies!

For the Proud Huskies program, we would like to recognize a student who has been heavily involved within their community.

With his submission, Brandon Antonio states, "Kaiden Vinavich is a student who is heavily involved with his community and student leadership. As a first year student at Northern Illinois University amidst a pandemic, Kaiden has been involved with the Neptune Community Council and the Residence Hall Association as the Records Officer on the Executive Board. He has led his peers on multiple programming initiatives for his residence hall and helped brainstorm ideas for engagement to meet the specific needs of the residents. Kaiden also represented as the RHA-CC for the Great Lakes Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (GLACURH) Regional Board of Directors (RBC), voting on amendments and bids for the upcoming years. His goal is to be more involved with housing by being a Community Advisor for the upcoming year 2021-2022. Kaiden has accomplished much for this year and should be recognized for his dedication and hard work."

Congratulations Kaiden and continue to push forward as a Proud Huskie ! If there is any student you think should be recognized for their involvement or academics, please write a submission for next week's Proud Huskies!

He is an excellent advocate for our students, student staff, both CAs and DAs, and his professional staff team. New Hall is lucky to have Will as our fearless leader who challenges us to be our best."

Ashlyn Straka: Rebecca Borowiak writes, "Specifically this month, Ashlyn has been doing an amazing job at follow up with our residents and keeping morale in our staff team high. She deserves all the recognition on a consistent basis. She is diligent in staying on top of her academics and her administrative duties and she always makes sure to ask fantastic clarifying questions.
