At Ohio Wesleyan University, opportunity can shape direction in unexpected ways.

Through the Bishop Scholars Program, Nathan Dacek ’27 stepped into tutoring elementary students in literacy and math, and discovered a passion that reshaped his academic path.

“It would not only brighten their day but would also brighten my day knowing that I get to have the opportunity to help them learn and grow,” he said.

Ohio Wesleyan University's Reunion Weekend 2026 proved the Bishop bond only strengthens with time.

The Class of 1976 returned to campus with over 100 alumni to honor their 50th class reunion, a golden anniversary marked by deep gratitude and enduring school pride.

The weekend also celebrated the remarkable achievements, service, and generosity of OWU alumni whose leadership and support continue to strengthen the university and future generations of Bishops.

With more than $3.7 million raised by the Class of 1976 this fiscal year, Reunion Weekend was more than a celebration of memories, it was a testament to the lifelong impact of the Bishop community.

Ohio Wesleyan University is excited to welcome Dr. Trevor M. Bates as Vice President for Advancement and Strategic Ventures.

An experienced higher education leader and proud liberal arts graduate, Bates will oversee an ambitious portfolio focused on philanthropy, alumni and community engagement, strategic partnerships, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

Previously serving as president and CEO of both Wilmington College and Mercy College of Ohio, Bates brings a strong record of strategic leadership, fundraising success, and mission-centered growth, including completing a $45 million comprehensive campaign three years ahead of schedule.

“We strategically redesigned this position to eliminate the boundaries separating philanthropy, constituent engagement, strategic partnerships, entrepreneurship, and revenue generation,” said President Matt VandenBerg. “OWU is building something rare, and Trevor is exactly the leader this moment deserves.”
