Congratulations to former Panther basketball standout, Christopher Hooks! 💙

2014 GRADUATE OF DARLINGTON HIGH SCHOOL
CHOSEN AS HEAD VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH

Christopher Hooks, a 2014 graduate of Darlington High School (DHS), will return to his alma mater as the new head coach for the girls varsity basketball program. The school announced the hiring Wednesday afternoon.

Hooks excelled as a student-athlete during his time at DHS, playing both basketball and baseball. In both sports he earned All-Region honors and helped guide the boys basketball team to a Lower State title his senior year.

He continued his basketball career at Denmark Technical College and, later, Claflin University.

For the past two seasons, Hooks has served as head coach of the Southside Middle School basketball program. He earned Coach of the Year honors this school year.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Performance and Recreation from Claflin.

Dr. Brown was honored to recently serve as speaker for the Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School Baccalaureate Service, sharing words of encouragement and inspiration with the Class of 2026 as graduates prepare for the next chapter ahead.

Dr. Brown recently joined the Division of Student Affairs to reflect on a successful semester and recognize the team’s work supporting students across campus. The division took some time to celebrate Dr. JL Porter, executive vice president, for his continued leadership and support.
