UNT Students, Faculty, and Staff had the unique opportunity to hear John Truitt’s presentation “Autism Spectrum Differences, 2e Twice Exceptional and Dyslexia.” Mr. Truitt is the creator of the On The Spectrum Foundation, which is a non-profit dedicated to advocating for Autism spectrum talents through self-discovery and social education.

Mr. Truitt was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, Dyslexia and other differences at age 45. After a successful career in medical and dental device start-ups, he discovered how his “Asperger’s works” and shares its benefits with others on the spectrum.

Thanks to the UNT Neurodiversity Professional Network (ND at UNT) and UNT EPIC for sponsoring the event!

The Neurodiversity Professional Network is proud to stand by our colleagues of the Black Faculty Network and others in opposition to academic censorship and support of academic freedom. Critical Race Theory approaches issues of race by centering the lived experiences of marginalized people and looks beyond individual prejudice to systemic impediments to equality. As such, it provides a framework for understanding the experiences of women, LGBTQ+, immigrants, and disabled people (including the ND community). An attack on CRT is an attack on the voices of all marginalized people.
