“One of the most significant adjustments I experienced was learning the everyday social customs and etiquette here in the United States. Traditions surrounding events such as weddings, norms around customer service, and even dining etiquette differ considerably from what I was accustomed to. Navigating these unspoken cultural expectations required patience and an open mind.
I had the opportunity to serve as a volunteer for FIFA 2026, where I assisted with stadium operations by helping guide attendees and ensuring a smooth, well-organized experience for fans navigating the venue. It was a privilege to contribute to an event of such global significance.
One of my favorite activities is conducting interviews with members of the campus community as part of the NTTV (North Texas Television), through which I help produce media/news packages from these conversations and after it get’s approved by NTTV it goes on Air.
I frequently make use of the One Button Studio at the library, which has been an excellent resource for recording my podcast content.
My advice would be to be proactive in building connections early on. Reaching out, engaging with others, and establishing a strong network can make the transition to a new environment significantly smoother.”
