This spring, we had the pleasure of welcoming students and educators from Collin College, Gainesville High School, Denton High School, Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning, Ryan High School, and Valley View High School to UNT CMHT for a series of recruitment events. 💚

From hospitality and merchandising info sessions to Chilton and Club Kitchen tours, bakery visits, bookstore stops, and shared meals together, these experiences gave students a closer look into the opportunities, community, and hands-on learning that make CMHT special. Thank you to all the students, teachers, TRIO staff, and committee members who helped make these visits meaningful and memorable!

Las Vegas Study Tour ✈️🎰
In March 2026, UNT hospitality students got an in-depth look at the Las Vegas hospitality industry — turning what we learn in class into real, hands-on experience.

From exploring behind the scenes to seeing how the industry operates at a high level, this trip gave students meaningful learning opportunities and moments they’ll carry with them into their future careers.

Guided by Professor Lee Harold, it was more than just a trip — it was an experience that truly brought hospitality to life.

Earth Fest 2026 🌎♻️

Last week on the Library Mall, we got to be part of something really meaningful.

The Zero Waste Textile Initiative hosted a clothing swap at Earth Fest, and it honestly turned into such a great moment students showing up, swapping clothes, and giving pieces a second life instead of letting them end up in landfills.

It was simple, but impactful. Just people coming together, making better choices, and proving that sustainability on campus can actually be fun and accessible.

Big thank you to WMGF, UPC, and Student Activities for putting this event together we’re really glad we got to be a part of it 💚

Celebrating an incredible leader
Last Friday, we honored Dean Jana Hawley and her remarkable legacy at CMHT. The room was full of stories, laughter, and a few happy tears.
What everyone kept saying: Dean Hawley leads with heart.
“She’s one of those people that will give you a real hug cheek to cheek, a real squeeze. She’s not afraid to roll up her sleeves and get down to work.” - Dr. Jiyoung Kim
Student Hiromichi Suzuki put it beautifully: “If CMHT were a fruit tree still growing, she was the one who watered it—nurturing growth and bringing genuine positivity to all around her.”
Dean Hawley didn’t just build programs. She built people. She connected students to opportunities and created a community that reflects her values of kindness, empathy, and courage.
Thank you for everything, Dean Hawley. Your legacy lives on in every student you believed in and every life you touched.
