Research from the CU Anschutz School of Dental Medicine continues to advance discoveries across developmental biology, cancer outcomes, and environmental health. From uncovering genetic mechanisms that guide craniofacial development to examining the effects of ultraviolet exposure and microplastics on health, these studies contribute to a growing body of evidence that informs patient care and expands our understanding of human health and disease.

What does team building look like at Grays Peak Clinic? Sometimes it's 14,278 feet above sea level.

The team, part of our Dental Team Care Clinic and led by faculty members Sophia Khan, DDS, and Doug Wilson, DMD, MS, climbed Grays Peak, one of Colorado’s iconic 14ers.

Dr. Khan said, "The day was filled with perseverance, camaraderie, encouragement and plenty of moments where we pushed one another to keep going. Reaching the summit as a team made the accomplishment that much more meaningful."

The experience was a reminder that the same collaboration and support that helps us succeed in the clinic can also help us conquer challenges outside of it. ⛰️

Pathway programs are about more than preparing students for admission. They're about helping students discover where their interests, talents and goals can take them.

For Eileen Tran, the Undergraduate Pre-Health Program (UPP) provided mentorship, career exploration, hands-on experiences and a community that helped refine her path to dentistry. Next year, she'll join the DDS Class of 2031 at the CU Anschutz School of Dental Medicine.

Before then? She's taking a year to compete in professional pickleball.

He enjoys connecting with people, learning from different experiences and finding ways to support communities through oral healthcare.

With a background in dental hygiene, Robyn Curtis chose dentistry as a way to support Native communities while helping more students see themselves reflected in the profession. She hopes her dental education will allow her to serve patients, expand opportunities and encourage the next generation of future oral healthcare providers.
