Colorado's Jesuit University. Founded 1877.
regis.edu Regis aims to develop students as a whole person.

Regis University is located in the Mile High City with the unmatched backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, but Colorado’s vibrancy is just one of the many reasons students are drawn to Regis. Students from all faith backgrounds are bonded together by the common purpose of building a better society and are shaped by Jesuit, Catholic traditions, which emphasize the importance of critical thinking, having a global perspective and standing up for those who do not have a voice. With a small student-to-faculty ratio, our award-winning faculty is dedicated to empowering graduates with the skills and perspective needed to harness their passions and talents and spur change on a local and global scale.

President Shawna Cooper Whitehead welcomed Denver Mayor Mike Johnston to campus last week to explore how Regis University and the City and County of Denver can work together to strengthen our community.

Their discussion focused on building pathways from Regis classrooms to careers in high-need fields, connecting students and faculty with the city’s work in mental health and homelessness, and bringing Regis’ expertise and resources into the neighborhoods surrounding campus.

Guided by our Jesuit Catholic mission, Regis is proud to be a University of and for Denver. For nearly 150 years, we have educated leaders and served our neighbors, and we look forward to deepening that commitment through this partnership.

Thank you, Mayor Johnston, for visiting Regis. We look forward to turning this conversation into meaningful opportunities for our students and the city we call home.

What happens when food becomes a way to explore culture, history and identity?

Through IC420: Memory, History, and Food, Regis students are learning how the food we share can connect us to our families, communities and common home. As part of the course’s Comidas Del Alma (“soul food”) series, students recently teamed up with Ranger Dining provider Harvest Table for a hands-on cooking and tasting workshop.

On Sept. 16, students prepared different styles of arepas – a South American corn flatbread with fillings inspired by different traditions – and invited the Regis community to learn how to make their own. 🍽️

From cooking and tasting to sharing family recipes and stories, students are discovering that there’s much more to food than what’s on the plate.
