From Metropolitan State College of Denver to Hollywood icon. 🎬

Former MSU Denver student Pam Grier is receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Santa Fe International Film Festival on Oct. 17.

Grier has credited an MSU Denver professor with helping shape her path by encouraging her to pursue film before she headed to Hollywood and became an icon whose groundbreaking career helped reshape representation of Black women on screen.

What started as a Spring 2024 experiment has grown into a recurring MSU Denver campus tradition.

Ask a Professor brings faculty experts together with students for informal conversations about timely social, political and cultural topics. The goal is simple: create space for civil discourse and show that disagreement can be an opportunity for dialogue rather than division.
