Meet the PharmD Class of 2030, who received their white coats and are now off on their four year journey to becoming pharmacists. 💊🥼

You’ll notice many different faculty members up on the stage coating the new professional students. This special new tradition allows students to form a bond with their faculty mentor from the very first time they put their coat on. Additionally, we were fortunate enough to have P4 and Student Government representative Abby Axell on the podium to address the new P1 class, as well as Laura Knockel, Iowa Pharmacy Association President Elect.

Our Nursing White Coat Ceremony celebrated the third cohort of ABSN students entering the program. In just one year, these students will be back on the stage to receive their pins as skilled and compassionate nurses. 🩺🤍🥼💐

Thank you to Lance Schmitt, Chief Nursing Officer at Broadlawns Medical Center for leading students in the Pledge of Professionalism. We are also grateful for all of our faculty mentors who coated their mentees and will guide them through their journeys from beginning to end.

What better way to bring people together than with a classic Midwest cookout? ☀️🌭🧺

This year at orientation, we started a new tradition and brought our new professional students and CPHS faculty/staff, as well as their families, together for a picnic on the beautiful Johansen Student Center patio. Thanks to all those who joined us - it was a fantastic turnout! And, of course, thanks to grillmasters Dr. Maki, Dr. Phillips and Dr. Nelson for the delicious eats.

Our newest cohorts of nursing, OT and pharmacy students started orientation week by packing 34,128 MEALS with Meals from the Heartland 👏 What a way to kick off the year. Welcome (or welcome back) to Drake, Bulldogs!

Did someone call for a nurse… or 20? 🩺🎓

Last week’s pinning ceremony celebrated the conclusion of a year’s worth of (literal) blood, sweat and tears for our hardworking and compassionate student nurses. The most special part of this ceremony? Students are pinned by someone meaningful to them, a tradition that recognizes the individuals who supported them along the way.

Not only will our second cohort of ABSN graduates impact the lives of their patients, but they will also leave a lasting impact on Drake’s nursing program as a whole as it continues to grow and develop. Congratulations!
