Last week, Highline's TRIO Student Support Services hosted their year-end celebration and awards ceremony under the theme: "Waves of Success." Staff, faculty, students, and their families came together to celebrate these students' hard work and success as they continue to pursue their education at Highline and beyond.

TRIO SSS is a federally funded program for current college students that provides low-income, first-generation college students and students with disabilities the valuable support and services that will assist in student success and persistence towards graduation.

In observance of Memorial Day, the campus will be closed on Monday, May 25. Have a safe and relaxing weekend, T-Birds.

Yesterday, Veterans Services staff and volunteers planted American flags around campus in groups of 13. The 13 flags represent the 13 service members who sacrificed their lives in service during the current conflict in the Middle East. As we go into the weekend, let’s take time to remember and honor the brave individuals whose sacrifices secured our freedom.

After graduating this spring quarter with an Associate of Arts–Direct Transfer Agreement (AA-DTA) and concentration in journalism, she'll transfer to the University of Washington in their Journalism and Public Interest Communications (JPIC) program.

There were so many powerful and inspirational conversations at the Young Educated Ladies Leading (Y.E.L.L.) summit this past Saturday. It was amazing to see the crowds of smiling students connecting with peers, building their leadership skills, and engaging in inspirational discussions to give them the confidence to succeed in their academics and career.

Special thanks to the keynote speaker, Kiesha B. Free (), presenters and panelists, and Y.E.L.L. Summit Committee for putting on such a spectacular event.
