General information

Our programs include the Diversity Health Series, and Women at Noon. We also provide national heritage month programming such as speakers an cultural events. We work with student organizations such as the Multicultural Affairs Student Advisory Council (MASAC) to support ongoing programs such as the Seeking Justice Series and the Gay-Straight Alliance to produce Safe Zone training. Finally, we provide support to student organizations such as Physicians for Social Responsibility in their many endeavors.

Health Professions Advanced Summer Scholars Program

Take the first step toward a health professions career with Des Moines University’s 10th Annual Health Professions Advanced Summer Scholars Program – Health P.A.S.S. The program is aimed at rising juniors and seniors from underrepresented populations in medicine and health care, including underrepresented minority, low-income and/or first-generation college students. Health P.A.S.S. provides participants with hands-on experience in a variety of health professions.

Health P.A.S.S. opportunities include:


  • Learn from lectures and presentations in four clinical areas: osteopathic medicine, podiatric medicine, physical therapy and physician assistant studies.

  • Enjoy hands-on experiences in state-of-the-art facilities, including simulations with life-like medical mannequins and labs to test your casting, suturing and surgery skills.
