Some summers you remember. Most you forget.

This one starts June 6th.

There is one moment every summer in Detroit where the city collectively decides the season has officially arrived where the right people, the right energy, and the right setting collide into something that can't be replicated or recovered. That moment has a name this year.

DIAMONDS & BLOOMS

Presented by the Detroit (MI) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi at the Hotel St. Regis Detroit. This is not just another day party. This is the declaration. Detroit's finest gather indoors in luxury and spill out onto a refined cigar patio under an open summer sky dressed in florals and pastels, moving with intention, celebrating the season the way it was meant to begin: elevated.

It opens with "Diamond Hour," a live jazz experience by The James Russell Project (4pm), that sets a tone most venues never reach. It closes with DJ Snake and the Official DJ of the Detroit Pistons, DJ HiDef, making sure you leave knowing exactly what summer 2026 sounds like. Everything in between is curated. Every detail is intentional. Every guest is there because they move differently.

This is the event people will reference in August when they're explaining what set the summer's standard. You either witnessed it firsthand, or you spent the rest of the season hearing about it.

On April 13th, the Detroit Medical Center Community Baby Shower occurred at Greater Grace Temple.

The brothers of the Detroit (MI) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi partnered alongside members of the Wayne State University & the University of Detroit Mercy Chapter, the Alpha Beta of Kappa Alpha Psi to serve the community and families in need!

Our members continue to uphold our commitment to achievement, as well as inspiring service in the public interest.

On this Good Friday, the Brothers of the Detroit (MI) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi ask that you join us in celebration as today marks the 106th anniversary of our chapter's establishment.

Four graduates of the Delta Chapter (Wilberforce University) and Detroit residents saw a need for an alumni chapter in their city. McKinley A. Carey, Joseph D. Duplessis, Leondias W. Curtis, & Fred B. Jones petitioned for an alumni chapter in Detroit. Dr. Edward A. Carter and Newton A. Dolphin joined them to become a Charter Member.

On April 3, 1920, Grand Polemarch Irven Armstrong proclaimed the chartering of the Detroit (MI) Alumni Chapter making it the fraternity's 2nd alumni chapter. McKinley A. Carey as the inaugural Polemarch, George R. Dorsey, an initiate from Zeta Chapter (Ohio State University) served as Vice Polemarch, Founder Henry T. Asher was the Keeper of Records, Newton A. Dolphin was the Keeper of Exchequer, and Fred B. Jones was the Strategus.

Last week, from March 26th-29th, the men of the Detroit (MI) Alumni Chapter participated in the 94th Northern Province Council in Lansing, Michigan.

Events kicked off on Thursday, with a Room to Read program at the Dwight Rich School of the Arts. Our current Keeper of Records (Jered Jackson) read to a class of 4th graders. Additionally, our chapter member Brother Terry L. Ward participated in a Learn 2 Live Program at Lansing Eastern High School and a Food Packing event in partnership with the Greater Lansing Food Bank.

Following productive business meetings and other events, it was announced that our very own Brother Terry L. Ward was elected Senior Province Vice Polemarch for our Northern Province.

Additionally, the Detroit (MI) Alumni Chapter was awarded the 2026 Paul Waymond Caine (extra large category) Alumni Chapter of the Year where our chapter Polemarch (president) Brother Robert Paster, Jr. accepted the award.

Well deserved—excellence always stands out. YO! 👌🏾♦️
