Our Senior WIN Graduation was a meaningful celebration recognizing the achievements, growth, and success of our incredible Class of 2026 Scholars! As our seniors prepare for graduation and their next chapter, we were proud to honor them with TRIO Alumni awards and other special recognitions.

We were excited to welcome as our keynote speaker. Chris is a motivational speaker, author, and former NFL football player who uses his story and experiences to inspire young people to lead with resilience, purpose, and confidence. His message encouraged our scholars to keep pushing forward, even through challenges and setbacks.

Congratulations to the outstanding Class of 2026! Your journey is only beginning, and we cannot wait to see all the amazing things you accomplish. We are so proud of you! 💙🎓

We’re excited to celebrate our TRIO Scholars at the 4th Annual Academic Year Celebration, recognizing a year of hard work, commitment, and excellence!

Join us this Saturday, May 16th as we celebrate our seniors, their hard work, and their graduation from our program, with lunch provided. We are also honored to welcome our special guest Chris Okoye, author, speaker, and NFL alum! We are so excited to hear his powerful message to our seniors.

GVSU TRIO Upward Bound Detroit is incredibly proud of six scholars who participated in the 100 Black Men of Greater Detroit Oratorical Contest this past weekend. Each student tackled the question: “Is higher education necessary to improve your quality of life in today’s society?”

It was inspiring to witness their confidence, powerful public speaking, and ability to clearly present thoughtful arguments on both sides of the issue.

Special congratulations to our scholar and student ambassador Heaven Tillman for earning 3rd place!

A sincere thank you to the 100 Black Men of Greater Detroit for hosting such a meaningful and impactful event.
