Lambda Pi Omega Chapter’s Empower Our Families Committee was proud to host a successful and impactful Youth Mental Health Forum on May 16, 2026, welcoming approximately 75 youth and parents for meaningful conversations surrounding mental and emotional wellness.

Attendees heard from outstanding speakers including Dr. Carmen Cochran on social media and youth mental health, Evan Green on mental health in athletes, and Antione Crowder on strengthening family communication through “Repair, Rebuild, Reconnect.” Athlete Armand Cartwright also shared his powerful personal journey navigating mental and emotional wellness in sports.

Participants left feeling informed, empowered, and equipped with practical tools and resources to continue important conversations at home and in the community.

A special thank you to our presenters for sharing their expertise, transparency, and encouragement, and to the Empower Our Families Committee, chapter members, and volunteers who helped make this forum such a meaningful and successful event.

We deeply remember the brave men, women, and especially our courageous AKA Sisters who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our freedom. Today, we reflect on their profound dedication, and commit to upholding the values of unity and service they so proudly fought for.

💗💚 Lambda Pi Omega Chapter was proud to join sisters from across the state for AKA Day at the Capitol in Lansing!

We were honored to support our AKA Great Lakes Regional Director, Gwen Kirtley, as we gathered for a powerful day of advocacy, engagement, and sisterhood at the Michigan Legislature.

The Metro Detroit AKAs chapter presidents were also present and actively engaged as we advocated for Southeast Michigan communities and issues impacting those we serve.

This impactful day provided opportunities to connect with legislators, gain insight into the legislative process, and uplift our collective voice through service, leadership, and advocacy. 💗💚
