On Monday, October 26th, Brother Lt. Strategus Kuykendall had the distinct honor of filming an Oral History project at the historic Jackson Home, located within Greenfield Village. Conducted as part of his prestigious internship with The Henry Ford’s Film Department, this cinematic project serves to preserve and elevate a vital chapter of American history.
The oral history piece pays tribute to the profound legacy of Brother Dr. Sullivan Jackson (Tau ‘41) and his wife, Mrs. Richie Jean Jackson. During the 1965 Selma to Montgomery marches, the Jackson family residence served as a crucial safe haven and strategic planning center for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other prominent leaders of the Civil Rights Movement.
This endeavor not only highlights Brother Kuykendall’s professional growth in documentary filmmaking but also reflects a deep commitment to honoring the monumental impact of our esteemed fraternity brothers and their families on the fight for equality and civil rights.
