Chapter President: Davey Gutenschwager
Chapter Vice President of Communications: Alvin Tomika The American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) has played a key role in helping students navigate through pharmacy school, explore careers in pharmacy, and connect with others in the profession. The Wayn
e State University (WSU) Chapter of APhA-ASP represents over 200 student pharmacist members and offers many opportunities to connect with others along with opportunities to practice patient care skills. WSU student pharmacists participate in many patient care projects including administering flu shots to WSU faculty and staff, blood glucose and hypertension screenings, smoking cessation counseling and many more. APhA-ASP WSU Chapter offers trainings for blood glucose, hypertension, vaccinations, sexual health awareness and smoking cessation to better prepare student pharmacists for patient interaction and pharmaceutical care. Each year several APhA-ASP members travel to the regional and national APhA meetings to learn about issues facing the profession and make their voices heard. As one of the largest pharmacy organizations there is a spot for everyone no matter what career pathway.
