The Fehl Lab is excited to announce the renewal of NIH R35 grant "Spatiotemporal tools to interrogate O-GlcNAc functions in metabolic signaling and disease." O-GlcNAc is a glucose sensor that cells use to control their metabolism. The work supported by this $2.5 M award develops new chemical tools that are designed to tell us: What levels of sugars are unhealthy? How do cells control their sugar metabolism? And most importantly, what can we do about treating unhealthy sugar levels in metabolic disease?

Publication Alert 🚨

“Resolving Energy Transfer Dynamics at the Quantum Dot Gels–Perylene Diimide Hybrid Interface” in The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters is a collaboration between the Brock and Liu Labs at with Boston College’s Huang Lab. The results of this research highlight the potential of QD gels as a tunable framework for integrating molecular acceptors with quantum-confined materials.

All Authors: Alexander J. King, Fatima Innasa Mohamed Saheed, Moses Adeyemo, Vinicius Alevato, Daniel Kennedy, Rongyu Zhang, Tomoya Ozaki, Liangji Chen, Atish Ghosh, Zhenfei Liu, Stephanie Brock, and Jier Huang

Semiconductor–molecular hybrids provide a platform for controlling excited-state transfer in photocatalysis and optoelectronics. While quantum dots (QDs) are promising semiconductors, they are often capped with surface ligands that limit accessibility and hinder coupling with molecular species. QD...
