Three Surry students have recently graduated as Scholars of Global Distinction, completing a program established through a partnership with UNC-Chapel Hill's World View Initiative. π
Denice Jazmin Pinzon-Silvas delivered her capstone presentation titled, βNorthern Mexico Beyond Headlines: Culture, Economy, Power, and Resilience.β Guadalupe Rubio Villedas shared her presentation titled, βCosta Rica: Beyond the Wildlife.β Cheri Landreth will present her capstone in the fall.

The Scholars of Global Distinction program is open to all SCC students. Scholars must complete at least 15 credit hours of globally intensive courses, attend at least eight cultural activities, complete an immersion project, and deliver a capstone presentation. By joining the program, students get the chance to grow the skills they need to navigate an ever-more globalized world.
