OK band, it is showtime! The 98th is bringing all their percussion, so all we need is to bring the stands and some extra chairs. Load at 4, setup stage at or before 5, warm/tune 5:30, and concert at six! See you there...blessings,Jim

Dear band members, if you have not already heard, last night I made it official that I will be retiring from directorship of our group after the 13 April concert. Not a decision made lightly, as I love you all and love what I do, but It is time to take some other factors into account. We are in James Holmes' band room now, and he will take over in the Summer semester. Other news...Bill Snider is home recovering, and hopes to be back playing in two weeks, if not sooner. Dear Band members, we are moving our rehearsal location to Houston Academy's band room, starting this coming Monday. After much thought, this will solve some present problems and forestall some looming ahead. From Westgate parkway, which most of you use already, turn west on Whatley Drive, and right at the next light. Turn left into the school, and the band room is down by their Gym. Blessings, Jim

Dear Band members, a subject I have not felt a need to address has come to my attention, having to do with seating/chair placement within the sections. It is my belief ( and I practice it as an instrumentalist) is that sections will settle and sort themselves out with regard for the best for the organization, so we don't "challenge and audition" for positions. We acknowledge some of our players have become "pillars", always present, and so these have earned the right more consideration, but at the same time I find that the more secure and mature the musician, the more ready to allow newer players to move up. Harmony...in music and personalities...has kept this from becoming an issue in the past, and I believe you will all desire that it continue. Blessings, Jim
