Start a new career with Eastern Maine Community College's Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program.
A Nursing Assistant is an individual who provides basic care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This course consists of a combination of classes in theory, laboratory, and clinical learning experiences. You will acquire knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to function safely in a clinical setting. Students who successfully complete the course and the State Board Examination will receive a State of Maine Certification for Basic Nursing Assistant. This program consists of 70 hours of classroom and 20 hours of lab instruction, and 40 hours of clinical time. Candidates must present either a high school diploma, or HISET/GED. The CNA program is funded by the Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan, through the Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine's Workforce and the Maine Community College System.
