We often hear about historic bills being signed into law—but what does that actually mean for you, the voter?

The Delaware John Lewis Voting Rights Act adds protections intended to help safeguard Delaware voters against practices that can suppress participation or dilute the voting power of communities.

The law is designed to strengthen protections against voter suppression, address vote dilution, and provide tools for challenging election practices that may result in unequal access or representation.

Named in honor of civil rights leader and Congressman John Lewis, the law continues a legacy centered on protecting access to the ballot and fair representation.

What does this mean for Delaware voters? Understanding the laws that govern our elections is an important part of understanding your rights.

This Labor Day, we honor the people whose labor, courage, and determination helped build our communities and shape this nation. We also make space for the stories too often left untold, stories of exploited Black labor, thriving Black-owned businesses, resistance, and the relentless pursuit of freedom.

Join us for Freedom Trails, an interactive Underground Railroad walking experience where participants will follow clues, uncover powerful stories, and walk through Delaware’s rich Black history.

REC Director Asua Ofosu had a great time at the 4th Annual Baila Con Dover Latin Festival! It was wonderful celebrating Hispanic culture, music, food, and community.

Delaware’s Black history is all around us. Now, let’s bring more of it into our classrooms.

Delaware educators are invited to join the Delaware Black History Curriculum Training, an interactive professional development experience exploring the people, places, communities, and stories that helped shape our state.

Developed by historian and REC Curriculum Consultant Dionne Patterson, this Delaware-focused training will connect educators with primary sources, culturally responsive teaching strategies, interactive learning experiences, historical and archaeological resources, and classroom-ready materials aligned with state standards.

Six early voting sites will be offered in New Castle County:
