TC3 joined SUNY Cortland last week for a celebration of the SUNY ASAP and ACE programs successfully underway on their respective campuses. ASAP|ACE removes barriers to degree completion and student success. In addition to dedicated advising and academic and career assistance, students in each program receive financial assistance to cover textbooks, groceries, transportation and other costs of attendance. TC3 added the ASAP program last year; SUNY Cortland launched its ACE program this year.

“The SUNY ASAP program has been a great success in our first year of having the program at TC3,” said President Kremenek. “There is nothing more fulfilling than watching a student succeed, especially one who has overcome obstacles, and the SUNY ASAP program helps make that happen.”

Current TC3 student Jewle-Krystal Fisher, a single mother of two who also works full time, said the program makes a real difference. “A lot of us have the capability, but not the financial stability for (college),” said Fisher. “Things changed as soon as I went into the ASAP office. Ever since I was accepted (into ASAP) it’s been more stress free."

The SUNY Reconnect program, which provides free community college for New Yorkers 25 to 55 years old enrolled in academic programs in high-demand fields, is being expanded to cover more students. Starting in the Spring of 2027, adults who previously earned a college degree in another area of study will now also be eligible for a free associates degree through the program.

TC3 currently has 13 academic degree programs covered by SUNY Reconnect, with more being developed. Earlier this fall TC3 opened its Adult Learner and Reconnect Center to serve as a centralized point of access designed to better serve adult learners, including SUNY Reconnect participants. The office provides proactive coaching, navigation, and case-managed support for adult learners across their educational journey, serving as a supportive space for students balancing work, life, family, and college.
