Yesterday, Governor Kim Reynolds officially signed SF 2190 into law, which completed the legislative process for Iowa's PA Title Change Legislation. This law goes into effect on July 1, 2026. From stepping onto campus as an 18-year-old first-year student to walking across the stage as a graduate of our Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program, Maddie Bowers (C’22, MSPAS’25) 🩺 has carried the spirit of with her every step of the way.

During her undergraduate years, Maddie was a leader on the women’s golf team—traveling to Ireland, winning conference, competing at nationals, and forming lifelong friendships along the way. She also excelled in the classroom, conducted research, served as a Wendt Character Scholar, volunteered, and invested deeply in our community.

Her transition into UDPA was a continuation of that same dedication. Maddie volunteered, held leadership roles, completed 11 clinical rotations across three states, and strengthened her passion for patient-centered care. Through it all, her professors, mentors, and coach stood beside her.

"... I will forever cherish that UD is where so many of my dreams I worked so hard for became a reality," she said.

Maddie’s journey is a beautiful reminder of what’s possible when passion meets purpose.
