The Department of Fine and Performing Arts (FPA) at the University of Dubuque offers an interdisciplinary major in the fine and performing arts with concentrations in theatre, music, and dance. The mission of the FPA department is to provide students at the University of Dubuque opportunities for participation and study in music, theatre, dance, and art as distinct yet inter-disciplinary areas of

the fine and performing arts. Through participation in FPA classes, events, and performances, UD students engage the community within and beyond the University. Fine and performing arts students demonstrate a passion for the arts and connect theory to practice through the creation of socially conscious and intellectually adventurous works of art, theatre, dance, and music. The public is invited to attend plays, musicals, and concerts presented throughout the year.

🎶 What a moment in Alaska! ❄️🎵

Last night choir had the incredible chance to meet UD alumna Gretchen Van Hove at our performance at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Anchorage, Alaska. Gretchen learned about our Alaska Choir Tour when she saw pre-concert news coverage on KTUU-TV. It was such a wonderful surprise to meet Gretchen and learn that she sang in the UD choir in the 1960s!

One of the best parts of tour is discovering that our choir family is truly everywhere.💙

Only on Choir Tour in Alaska will students stand before a snowy mountain backdrop singing peaceful music to the most unexpected audience ever… 🎶🦌

During a tour of a reindeer farm yesterday, the choir sang “The Lord Bless and Keep You” to a curious herd of reindeer. It was not our average concert, but definitely one we’ll never forget. ❄️💙

Choir Tour in Alaska 🏔️🌲

We’ve officially arrived! It was a wonderful first day from hiking along the breathtaking Matanuska River Trail to an unexpected encounter with a real gold miner (yes, actual gold panning!). ⛏️✨ Today was full of adventure, laughter, and awe. We wrapped our first day by sharing a meal at our home base. We’re already making wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. 💙
