The Department of Fine and Performing Arts (FPA) at the University of Dubuque offers an interdisciplinary major in the fine and performing arts with concentrations in theatre, music, and dance. The mission of the FPA department is to provide students at the University of Dubuque opportunities for participation and study in music, theatre, dance, and art as distinct yet inter-disciplinary areas of

the fine and performing arts. Through participation in FPA classes, events, and performances, UD students engage the community within and beyond the University. Fine and performing arts students demonstrate a passion for the arts and connect theory to practice through the creation of socially conscious and intellectually adventurous works of art, theatre, dance, and music. The public is invited to attend plays, musicals, and concerts presented throughout the year.

What a turnout! Last night’s theatre info session brought together a fantastic mix of students—theatre majors and curious creatives from across campus—all ready to see what’s next on the stage (and behind it!).

Students got the scoop on upcoming cast and crew opportunities, including auditions for:

✨ The Tempest

We also shared information about the Devised Theatre Challenge and invited everyone to join Drama Club! 🎭✨

Interested students, not available to attend last night, please contact Professor Klinebriel ([email protected]) for information.

We're beaming with pride as our recent music education grads begin an exciting new chapter – their first teaching jobs! After years of learning, performing, rehearsing, and preparing, they’re ready to make a difference through music in their students' lives and in their communities. 🎵❤️

Dacoda Breitsprecker (C’25) is teaching fifth-grade band for the entire Western Dubuque Community School District, which includes elementary schools in Farley, Epworth, Peosta, Dyersville, and Cascade, Iowa.

Josette Robertson (C’25) is the director of band and choral activities for AHSTW Community School District, teaching band and choir to students from Cass, Harrison, Pottawattamie, and Shelby counties in Iowa.

Mackenzi Young (C’26) is teaching elementary music, elementary and high school band, guitar, and ukulele at Chokio-Alberta School in Chokio, Minnesota.

We're excited to see the music, memories, and lasting impact they'll create in their classrooms. Congratulations, Dacoda, Josette, and Mackenzi! We're cheering you on every step of the way!

There was so much on the last day of band camp, we just couldn't fit is all into one post!

After six days of rehearsals, drill, music, sweat, and a whole lot of progress, there was only one way to wrap up band camp...with a few awards and some well-deserved fun. 💦

Awards went to:
🏆Best Theme Award – Woodwinds Section
🎉Raise the Bar Award – Colin Huynh
🥁Drum Majors Award – Cooper Eenhuis and Dr. Glickman

After the awards were handed out, then it was every band member for themselves! 🎈🎯💦 Thank you to our drum majors for planning the perfect ending to an incredible week.

Last day of band camp = the perfect time for a little prank.

Our marching band decided to have a little fun with Dr. Glickman by performing the ENTIRE 3-minute warm-up with anything BUT their instruments. Books, golf clubs, lip gloss, umbrellas, toys…everyone grabbed the most random objects they could find. This was NOT the warm-up Dr. Glickman was expecting! 😭

🎶 Putting it all together! 🎶

Our final morning drill block turned into a full rehearsal, giving us a chance to see and hear pieces of the show come together on the field! 🎺🥁

After a week of hard work and progress, the show is taking shape. Great job Spartans! 💙 🤍
