This past week we sent students to the Upper Midwest Association for Colligate Sustainability Conference (Upper Midwest Association for Campus Sustainability) in St Cloud, MN! We were able to have 3 of our student staff members (Katlyn Dexter, Lillian Campbell, and Vivienne Tabor) present on their on campus sustainability initiatives. Other student staff from our office were able to go and learn about sustainability on other college campuses in the Midwest. Overall, it was a great time for everyone involved!

If you’re curious about the Free Store, this is the post for you! We are a donation-based store open to all students on the Duluth campus. The store is located in Chem 213 (near the large Chem 200 lecture hall). Stopping by and picking up items you need, or dropping off donations is a great way to interact with sustainability on campus. If there are any more questions about the store, feel free to leave them below!

Did you clean out your closet and not know what to do with the clothes after? When you were moving did you have a lot of extra items your roommates didn’t want? Have you ever wanted to donate to the free store, but you weren’t sure how to? Well this is the post for you!

Our on campus free store is always looking for donations! All donations go right back to students for free. We have two donation bins on campus. One is located in Darland, one is located outside the store during hours of operation.

Feel free to bring anything clean and usable to our donation bins any time. We will happily take it! Donations are not limited to only students, we will happily take community donations.

There is no p**p fairy coming to pick up your dogs p**p! Do your DOO-ty! If your pet p**ps, please pick it up! 💩 It is the courteous thing to do, & protects public health, water quality, & the environment from pollution.

🦠 If left, pet waste will ultimately flow into our water sources. Ew!
🦠 Pet waste may contain disease causing pathogens like E. coli bacteria, viruses, & other parasites.
🦠 Excess nutrients from pet waste can fuel toxic algae blooms, which harms wildlife & causes beach closures.

Please pick up after your pet this summer, & all year round. Your efforts could be the solution to stormwater pollution. ☀️🐶
