Hello Everyone,

Here is the schedule of events for tomorrow’s 10th annual Give the Drummer Some featuring Greg Hutchinson. Reminder that this is a FREE event open to the public. So please share this post and invite some friends! T-shirts will be available for purchase and we accept donations as well. All of the money will be put towards supporting this event.

Master class times at BN Duke complex located on the NCCU Campus:

1. Thomas Taylor 2:00 (new band room) “play with time! Different ways to manipulate the metronome and discover yourself.”
2. Jonathan Curry 3:00 (old band room) “Let your "Modern Drumming" create sustaining value to your career"
3. Hutch! 4:00 (new band room) “The life of Swing- with Hutch”.

6-8pm is the concert at the new Student Center stage (also located on the NCCU campus)

Congratulations to the NCCU Jazz Ensemble for placing 3rd this year in the annual Jack Rudin competition in NYC. The Jack Rudin competition is a two-day competition held at Jazz at Lincoln Center which features ensembles from ten of the most well-regarded university jazz programs in the country. We were honored to be invited and compete at such a prestigious event. Thank you to the faculty, students, and alumni for their hard work, dedication, and professionalism during this time. Another thank you goes to Jazz at Lincoln Center for their hospitality and hosting this beautiful event of music. Individual awards were also won by some of our students and sections. The awards can be seen below. We are very proud!

Awards:

Big Band competition: Overall 3rd place

Outstanding Soloist: Shaquim Muldrow (tenor saxophone), Chris Mills (Bass).

Honorable Mention: Brandon Seaforth (trombone)

Outstanding section awards: Trumpet and trombone section
