Next week!

One week from today!

So, we had an amazing September... First we had Adam Larson in for a residency, then the Count Basie Orchestra with Carmen Bradford for a clinic and performance, and finally Ryan Keberle and his fantastic group Collectiv do Brasil yesterday!

In October we welcome alumnus Steve Guerra for a residency! Both jazz bands will perform an entire program of his music at the MUB on Thursday, October 9, at 8PM, in the Strafford Room. He has also written a composition for the 3 O'Clock Band that they will premiere that evening! See you on the 9th!

The UNH Department of Music is thrilled to welcome Ryan Keberle & Collectiv do Brasil for a guest artist pre-concert talk and performance! The pre-concert discussion will be held in Bratton Recital Hall at 3:00pm, followed by a 5:00pm performance.

Hailed in the Jazz Times International Critics Poll as the #1 Trombonist, a player “of vision and composure” according to The New York Times, Ryan Keberle has developed a one-of-a-kind voice both on his instrument and as a composer, earning distinction among jazz’s most adventurous new voices. Keberle’s outlets include the celebrated indie jazz ensemble, Catharsis; the Big Band Living Legacy Project, carrying on the rich musical language of big band jazz featuring top veteran players in the idiom; the All Ears Orchestra, featuring Ryan’s original compositions and arrangements for Jazz Orchestra, and Reverso, a chamber-jazz collaboration with French pianist Frank Woeste featuring cellist Vincent Courtois and drummer Jeff Ballard.

Both the pre-concert talk, and the performance are free and open to the public, and a livestream will be available on our YouTube page.

This guy... Alan Chase! He has meant so much to the jazz studies area at the UNH Department of Music over the years. From making recordings for students in the 1990s-2010s to helping with artist relations for the program, he has been a part of this program's history. Alan knows music, particularly jazz, deeply. He has generously donated his entire music and book collection for our students to enjoy in perpetuity. Please help us thank Alan!
