The Duke University Center for International and Global Studies (DUCIGS) supports the globalization efforts of Duke University at home and abroad. DUCIGS is home to various international area studies centers, councils, and initiatives including:

It also hosts associations including the Diplomat in Residence (DIR) program of the U.S. Department of State and the Policy and Organizational Management Program (POMP).
Duke University’s international and area studies centers engage Duke students and faculty from across the social sciences, arts and humanities, public affairs, environment and professional schools in the study of world’s societies, cultures, economies, customs and languages. Under the umbrella of the Center for International and Global Studies, these units each play a role in promoting internationalization on the Duke campus and beyond.
The mission of DUCIGS is to:
• Support, engage, and connect researchers, students, departments, and schools to work on international issues
• Promote interdisciplinary research and education to understand and engage with challenging global issues
• Support and coordinate the activities of the area studies centers, councils and initiatives
