For nearly 20 years, New England College students have presented research at the Eastern New England Biology Conference. This year, NEC was selected to host the 81st annual conference, welcoming students and faculty from 20 colleges and universities to Henniker.

For NEC students, it was an opportunity to present research, build professional connections, exchange ideas with peers across New England, and experience firsthand what it means to be part of the scientific community. Being chosen as host reflects the continued growth of NEC’s science research programs and hands-on learning opportunities. 🔬🧬

This is what hands-on learning really looks like! 🌊

NEC’s Marine Biology class recently traveled to Darling Marine Center for an immersive field experience on the Maine coast.

Students explored the mudflats as the tide rolled in, collected sediment samples to study bacterial communities, used a beach seine to catch and identify nearshore fish, and more!

Real research. Real experience. Learning by doing, just another day at NEC.
