Learning about the importance and impact of global health goes beyond what's taught in the classroom. That's why we asked Global Health Studies faculty what they're reading and what they would recommend to students interested in global health in what we call the Global Health Book Club!
Dr. Mieka Smart, an Associate Professor in Global Health Studies, recommends "Poor Economics" by Abhijit V. Banerjee and Esther Duflo. While the book is rooted in research analyzing economic choices and impact in low-income global communities, Dr. Smart says that its emphasis on proper evidence and context for decision-making can transfer to global health practices.
