National Horse Day is celebrated every December 13. It's a day to remember the historic and cultural contributions that horses have made over the years.
Have you heard of EEE or Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus? It is a virus spread to people by the bite of an infected mosquito. Horses are susceptible to EEE virus infection, and many cases are fatal. At this time, there are no vaccines to prevent or medicines to treat EEE. You can reduce your risk of infection from the EEE virus by using insect repellent, wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants, and taking steps to control mosquitoes indoors and outdoors.
