Since becoming a federal holiday on June 28, 1894, Labor Day has served as a time to recognize the contributions of working people and the labor movement that helped shape the American workplace.
Today, we honor the dedication and achievements of workers and recognize those who have fought to advance dignity and fairness in the workplace. Their efforts left a lasting impact on the world of work we know today.
From all of us at Michigan State University's School of Human Resources and Labor Relations, we wish you a safe and happy Labor Day.
