L'Anse Creuse Public Schools is looking for a Director for their Performing Arts Center. The John R. Armstrong Performing Arts Center is used by all 15 schools in their district, hosting over 100 concerts and events each year. None of the school in district have an auditorium, so they all share a central auditorium. This is a position that works closely with the K-12 music directors (band/choir) and helps schedule their concerts, so they'd ideally like to have someone with a music background in the position.

November 11th deadline. Anyone that has questions about performing arts in LCPS is welcome to email Ryan Malburg at [email protected] / Ryan Malburg / Director of Bands / L'Anse Creuse High School

For this , we’re sharing this 2022 study conducted by BYU, Johns Hopkins University and the Heritage Foundation that supports cultural field trips for academic success.

The study linked multiple field trips during the school year to higher test scores, better performance in class and “increased cultural conscientiousness over time”.

“Contrary to practice where schools, facing accountability pressures, trade extracurriculars for increased seat time, we found that there’s no harm to academics by taking time out of the classroom,” said Heidi Holmes Erickson, assistant professor of educational leadership at BYU and lead author of the study. “It’s possible to expose students to a broader world and have culturally enriching curriculum without sacrificing academic outcomes, and it may actually improve academic outcomes.”

Amazing to see studies supporting benefits to cultural and artistic experiences!
