MSU Bee Palooza

MSU Bee Palooza Outreach event hosted by Michigan State University to celebrate bees, plants, and other pollinators. ๐Ÿ

Bee Palooza is a celebration of pollinators and the promotion of pollinator stewardship. Pollinators are animals that move pollen between flowers, resulting in seeds, nuts, and fruits. Most bees, some other insects, some birds, and some bats are pollinators. Pollinator stewardship is when humans play an active part in protecting and providing natural resources that pollinators need - including clean water and food (aka nectar and pollen).

Spring is almost here... but donโ€™t be tempted to start garden cleanup too soon!

During winter, pollinators such as bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects, find shelter in fallen leaves, dry stems, and in the ground, making it crucial to preserve
them until hibernating is over. By postponing spring cleaning, we give insects the chance to thrive and contribute to our ecosystem.

๐Ÿ๐ŸŒผ Bees are small, but their role in nature is huge. Without bees, many flowers wouldnโ€™t bloom and many fruits wouldnโ€™t grow. They are the silent workers that keep our planet alive. Unfortunately, due to pesticides, pollution, and habitat loss, bee populations are decreasing around the world.
But the good news is โ€” every small action can make a difference. Plant more flowers, avoid harmful chemicals in gardens, support sustainable honey, and create safe spaces for bees to live and thrive. Even a small garden or a bowl of water can help these amazing pollinators survive.
When we protect bees, we protect our food, our flowers, and the balance of nature itself. Letโ€™s respect these tiny heroes and do our part to keep them buzzing for generations to come. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’›
