Hello everyone! We hope that you are having a great start to your semester! We wanted to take a moment to share some awesome events organized by WaMPS.

First, on February 2nd from 6:30-7:30pm, WaMPS will be hosting a workshop on building resumes and CVs. This event is perfect for anyone looking to give their resume/CV an upgrade in order to apply for REUs, summer internships, and more! The location is still to be determined, but updates will be coming shortly! See the attached flyer for more information!

Next, on February 1st from 4-6pm, WaMPS is running an event called Navigating Courses, Certificates, Funding, and Research: An Extension of Mentoring. The goal of this event is to give more insight into the MSU graduate student experience. Learn about the different areas of researcher happening at MSU, student life as a grad student, and tips on what to look for in graduate school. This event will be held virtually. See the attached flyer for more information!

For more details on both of these events, visit https://www.wamps.org/.

We hope to see you at these fantastic events! Have a great day everyone!

Hi everyone!

We hope that your Halloween had more treat than trick! Please join us for our fourth official meeting of the semester from 6 to 7 pm tonight. Tonight, we're going to be down to Earth with Dr. Shawn Wei. Dr. Wei is very interested in in better understanding the physics of Earth's mantle by imaging seismic structures. He uses various techniques to study mantle discontinuities, subduction zones, and volatile sections of the mantle. If you are interested in geophysics and applications of physics in geology, come on by the SPS meeting tonight!

Dr. Wei is going to be presenting to us remotely today. We will be connecting with Dr. Wei over Zoom in BPS, but you can also connect remotely. See the email sent by Jennifer Roberts for the connection information.

As always, there will be pizza and pop available to everyone who meets with us in-person. Come on by for a slice of pizza and then stay for the great talk by Dr. Wei!
