Benjamin Nketsiah's internship last summer at Henry Ford Health gave him greater understanding of what inclusion in health care research looks like. He transcribed focus group discussions with Ghanaian women, hearing their perspectives surrounding the stigma of cancer. In response to what he observed, he developed a mobile health platform called She's Strong to help bridge some of the gaps in care. Read more.

Members of the MSU Delegation for Kazakhstan visited Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training Institute to discuss future collaboration and to tour the campus.

The visit followed an alumni reunion in Almaty, Kazakhstan where alumni from MSU degree programs and MSU VIPP scholar programs gathered.

MSU International Alum Armando Benitez visited MSU Broad College of Business during a recent return to campus. He met with Broad faculty and staff during a Global Engagement Coffee Hour and participated in a Lunch and Learn later in the day with students and faculty from the International Business Student Organization, Broad International Student Council and the Multicultural MBA Association.

Armando returned to campus to be honored for his career achievements and contributions to the Toronto Spartan community at the International Awards Ceremony held April 16. He is the Chief Data & Analytics Officer (CDAO) and Head of AI at BMO Capital Markets where he leads enterprise-wide initiatives in AI, data governance, business analytics and client analytics.

Originally from Colombia, Armando is an alum of the MSU College of Natural Science, graduating with both a master's and doctorate in physics. Today, he lives in Toronto where he is president of the Toronto Spartans Alumni Club.

This month MSU welcomed Consul-General of Japan Hajime Kishimori and his advisor Kanta Mochizuki. President Guskiewicz, Vice Provost and Dean Titus Awokuse, former JCMU Japan Center students, and faculty and staff from the Asian Studies Center, Japan Council and JCMU participated in a variety of events designed to expand opportunities that will deepen MSU's engagement with Japan through education and research.
