Chunqi Qian, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Radiology within the MSU Colleges of Osteopathic and Human Medicine, is leading research on a wireless, battery-free sensor designed to detect early-stage neurological and cardiovascular disease activity before symptoms become severe.

The innovative device can continuously monitor electrical signals from the brain, heart and muscles while reducing the need for repetitive imaging procedures. The technology may eventually support earlier detection and intervention for conditions like Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and arrhythmia.

Dr. Qian and collaborators are also exploring applications in veterinary medicine, agriculture and environmental monitoring.

You were never meant to run on empty. It is not failure if you’re overwhelmed, exhausted, feeling “off" or staring into space pretending to read the same slide for the sixth time. It is your mind and body asking for attention, care, support and a good reset.

Pause, breathe, have a snack, hydrate, get out and touch grass, text a friend and reach out to Wellness and Counseling. You deserve more than simply getting through the day.
