Skin color plays a role in water quality and sanitation, even in places where everyone seems to be the same race, MSU Sociology researchers found.

In apparently homogeneous societies such as Jamaica, the darker your skin color, the less likely you are to have reliably safe and clean water, found Sociology Assistant Professor Monique D. A. Kelly, Associate Professors Jennifer Carrera and Stephen Gasteyer, together with Sociology PhD students Tiffany Williams and Angelica De Jesus.

Why join Sociology Club? WHY NOT??
The Sociology Club is a group of sociology students who are excited about sociology and who regularly meet during the academic year to explore sociological opportunities for undergraduates. Meetings are held once a month, and cover a range of sociological and professional development topics, including applying to graduate school and resume writing with advising from Regan Kania. We encourage prospective students to inquire at [email protected] and follow them on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/sociology_clubmsu
