The Quilt Index has outstanding antique quilts, but it also has outstanding contemporary ones. Retro Stripe was made by Kelley Matt last year, https://quiltindex.org//view/?type=fullrec&kid=9-6-2334. It was included in over 80 quilts documented by the Quilters' Guild of Acadiana on behalf of the Louisiana Quilt Documentation Project. They are planning two more documentation days this year. One on May 23 at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice and the other in Slidell on June 26-27 at the GSQA Biannual Quilt Show. Both days are open to the public. You can contact them from their web page, https://www.quiltersguildofacadiana.com/.

To celebrate the 250th birthday of the USA, the Quilt Index has a new project, America Quilts 250! History Project. We are combing the records to find quilts with flags, eagles, centennial and bicentennial themes. So far we've found 318, but there are many, many more waiting to be discovered. We also invite quilters who are making or have made quilts like this to add them via our Submit A Quilt page, https://quiltindex.org/add-quilts/submit-form/. To encourage and inspire, we'll be posting these all month long. The first is Eagles with Central Star and Tulips, https://quiltindex.org//view/?type=fullrec&kid=25-21-155

Another museum has been added to the QI by the Massachusetts Quilt Documentation Project - Mass Quilts . Among those are 35 quilts from the Wayland Museum and Historical Society. You can find the quilts here, https://quiltindex.org/results/?search=quilts&qproject=Wayland%20Museum%20and%20Historical%20Society%20Collection. Each museum (with more than one quilt) has its own page that links to the quilts in its collection. You can find the museums by navigating to QUILT INDEX>COLLECTIONS>MUSEUMS where there are over 300 museums represented. Once on that page, the museums can be sorted by Name of museum, State where the museum is located, or by number of quilts. If the museum is from a state project, a link to the museum's page can be found on the state's project page. Once on a museum's page, you will see a link to all the quilts in their collection (that has been added to the QI) on one page. Those quilts can be sorted by Maker, Pattern name, or Date made. If you click on any of the quilts, it will bring you to the full page of information we have on that quilt. Once on a quilt's page, make sure to scroll to the bottom of the record to see if it is linked to a maker, a story, an exhibit, or a piece of ephemera.
