Today we get to know Hannah! She is a PhD Student in French and Francophone Studies.
RCS: What has been your last or favorite project or endeavor? 🙋♀️📚👩🏫. Hannah: I am currently preparing to teach WS 201: Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies this summer for the Center for Gender in Global Context. This will be my first time teaching the class and I am really looking forward to it!
RCS: What is your favorite dish? 🍰🇫🇷
Hannah: I can’t pick just one but tarte flambée is one of my favorites. It’s a typical Alsatian dish and it has crème fraîche, lardons (think bacon or pork belly), and thin sliced onions on a thin dough crust. It’s cooked in a wood burning stove and it’s delicious.
RCS: What has been your favorite place to live, do research or visit?
Hannah: Again it’s hard to pick one but I love studying and working in Belgium. I have worked with the Global Finance in Belgium study abroad program for several years, leading a community service project and teaching Finance 393 (a French business and culture course). It’s a beautiful country, the food is great, and the people are kind. 🇧🇪🏦
RCS: What advice would you give to your college self?
Hannah: It’s ok to make mistakes, especially when you’re trying something new. 👩🎓🤷🏽♀️💁🏽♀️
RCS: If you were to stay on a desert island for a week with all basic necessities covered and you were rescued after a week, what would be the four objects you would bring with you?
Hannah: My dog and 3 titles from my reading list for my PhD exams. 🐕🦺🐾🦴📚📖
Thank you Hannah for answering our questions!
